Catherine Ford is a British actress who was born in Bloomsbury. When her father's divorce from the family, she was brought up by her mother godparents, and grandmother. She suffered from an anxiety disorder that was rooted in word associations as a young toddler. Ford's love for acting grew when she was young. She was a part of at the National Youth Theatre. She had been accepted to Sylvia Young Theatre School. After a couple of days, she realized that the school was not suitable for her. Ford then applied for a place at the Central School of Speech and Drama and was admitted on her fourth attempt. Shaun Dingwall was one of Ford's classmates. He went on to get regular roles in the shows Pete Tyler and Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993. Before that, however, Ford made a television debut when she appeared on Surgical Spirit in an episode in 1990. Ford took the professional title of Catherine Tate. Tate was seen in television programmes including The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London's Burning in the Nineties. She also worked regularly at the theater, ultimately becoming a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. Tate gained recognition for her comedy stand-up, which became part of her resume in 1996.
